Bald Mountain, Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, Kenwood

I’ve been to this state park a couple of other times, but just to Hood Mountain. This was the first time I’d been up Bald Mountain. The length was only about 7 miles but it was a good climb to reach the summit, about 1,500 feet ascent from the trailhead, and about 2,700 feet above sea level. In parts, it was a rigorous climb that left me out of breath at times, which isn’t a bad thing. After the main hike, a bunch of us headed to a nearby waterfall for another mini-hike. It was a bit more challenging but gave a nice workout oomph to the day. One downside is that I got to experience a bit of the bizarre rule-making view of the state parks. No need to go deep into detail, but the parking attendant at the park entrance station could use an etiquette lesson. Good grief, Charlie Brown.
