Hood Mountain, Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, Kenwood

Just moved to California from the East Coast. My first hike. A little muddy from rain the day before but nice view of Kenwood (I think) from the top. I’ve joined a hiking group, and this is my first time out with the group. The organizer wore sandals, which I took as a sign that

this wasn’t going to be that tough of a hike. It wasn’t too bad, but as I later learned, he often wore sandals no matter the terrain. (I wore my barely-used hiking boots that I bought for a hike on the Appalachian Trail a few months ago when I lived in that part of the country.) For this hike, about a dozen people showed up, from around the Bay Area. Kind of cool weather, but since this was my first time hiking out here, it was strenuous enough so the breeze and coolness were welcomed. About 9 miles up and back.
